Adjust Inventory

Open Adjust Inventory

Adjust Inventory preserves a correction in history rather than silently replacing prior state. Select or scan the inventory record, choose the supported action, review, and save.

  • Add / Subtract Quantity: use when you know the difference, such as +2 ea found or -0.4 kg lost.
  • Set Quantity: use when you know the correct final count; Indietory records the difference needed to reach it.
  • Remove from Stock: removes a Container from active current stock while retaining its historical identity. This action is for container-tracked inventory.
  • Split Container: separates part of a Container into a new Container with its own identity and history. Choose a split quantity no greater than the source quantity and the required Location for the new Container.

Use Split Container when one physical Container is divided into multiple Containers but the inventory remains in the same Lot. For example, split part of a drum into a smaller pail while keeping both under the same Lot.

Use Split Lot instead when part of the inventory needs to become an independently managed Lot, often because it needs a different quality status or treatment. Split Lot selects whole Containers for container-tracked inventory; it does not divide one Container.

Split Lot is not an inventory adjustment. It reorganizes existing inventory into independently managed Lots without gaining or losing physical quantity, while preserving traceability.

Restore is not a separate action. Select the removed Container and use Add / Subtract Quantity or Set Quantity to set it above zero. Indietory warns that saving will restore the existing Container to active inventory and requires confirmation. You are restoring the same identity, not creating another copy.

After any adjustment, use Inventory History or the inventory detail to review the before/after effect.
