Automatic Lot Status Updates
Retest Date, Expiry Date, and Final Use By Date are calendar dates in the business timezone. They help Indietory apply the same date-based restrictions for everyone in the business, regardless of where each person is working.
When a date is due
Section titled “When a date is due”A date is due on that date and remains due afterward. Indietory applies these restrictive rules:

| Retest Date | Changes an Available Lot to Quarantined. It does not change a Lot that is already on Hold, Quarantined, Pending Retest, Expired, or Rejected. |
When more than one date is due, Indietory uses this order: Final Use By, then Expiry, then Retest. For example, a Lot with both a due Retest Date and Expiry Date becomes Expired. A due Final Use By Date takes precedence over either of the other dates, including an already Expired Lot.
These rules only make status more restrictive. They do not return a restricted Lot to Available. Rejected and voided Lots are not changed by date automation.
When Indietory evaluates the dates
Section titled “When Indietory evaluates the dates”Indietory evaluates the rules when you save changes to Lot dates. For dates that become due later, a Lot-status reconciliation pass evaluates existing Lots and updates stored statuses; this pass is not currently scheduled automatically. If a date is due, a Lot that still shows Available is kept out of applicable operations, including Production and Quick Sales, even before reconciliation updates the stored status.
Date-based changes made through a Lot save or reconciliation are recorded in Audit Log. Use Inventory History to review the inventory movement or quantity effects associated with other operations; a status change itself does not add or remove stock.
Date warning and confirmation
Section titled “Date warning and confirmation”When you save a date change on an existing Lot and that date would change its status, Indietory shows the expected status change and asks you to confirm. The warning is there because the date can change whether inventory from that Lot is operationally available.
If you continue, Indietory saves the date and applies the shown status result. If you cancel, the date change is not saved. A date that is already due also prevents a restricted Lot from being set back to Available from the Lot detail screen.
Split Lots and due dates
Section titled “Split Lots and due dates”Split Lots inherit the source Lot’s Retest, Expiry, and Final Use By dates. The new Lot then follows these same rules independently. A parent/child relationship does not make a status change on one Lot automatically change every related Lot.
